Beautiful and elegant or garish and wasteful? Your call.

In the brand advertisers manual..
Guideline #1 – don’t shout at people.
Guideline #2 if your name is confused.com, feel free to ignore guideline#1
I got violated by this last night. Enjoy.

testing a Kinect with SuperCollider from stefan on Vimeo.
Totally bad ass. Bit FX heavy for my liking – would have preferred a selection of retro 808 beats to keep things groovy
My apologies, but it’s been a bit quiet at the table recently. Aside from the usual day-job commitments, I’ve been focussing my efforts on an ongoing side-project that’s been in the pipeline for the past four or so months…and is now, I’m quite happy to announce – finished.
Exploring what I feel are some important themes in digital living and trying to make sense of this increasingly Internet dependant world we’re bumbling around in, I’ve pulled together all my thinking in a deck of colourful slides and commentary.
As always, discussion is most welcome and if you like, please share around/download!
Nice. This stands out as one of the better attempts at 3D Mapping in recent times. Not too sure about the stock footage of keeno bystanders filming/tweeting/web2.0 ‘ing their ‘experience’ but the coolness of this video more than compensates.

Another great animation/lecture from the RSA. This time, Evgeny Morozov discusses the Internet and its relative importance and influence in the empowerment of individuals..or not perhaps?
Some interactive YouTube shenanigans from Samsung – a very suitable way of using flash links to communicate handset features. Tip of the hat to Vincenzo Castrogiavanni @ the Viral Factory for the vid.

I can’t help but think this looks a little ‘Euro-Porn’, but maybe that’s just me. Nonetheless, quite a smart and fitting way of demonstrating how fast Intel want you to think their new processors are.

Whilst the British moaned about the pithy 8 inches of snow grinding all our lives to a frosty hault, Michael Black filmed this impressively crazy time-lapsed video of the recent blizzards that hit the East Coast of the US.
That’s a lot of snow.
In case you hadn’t noticed, Christmas is just around the corner. And despite the snow inflicting its carnage on commercial business up and down the British Isles there is as ever, a distinctively festive brand presence :
Cue – ’Everything-for-everyone’ M&S ad (great new choice of lingerie model, terrible choice of Jamie Redknapp ‘DJing’ – I don’t think I’ve ever seen anything so pointless)
Cue - ‘Coming-home-for-Christmas’ John Lewis ad, ( nice music )
Cue - ‘When-on-earth-will-they-get-rid-of-that-bloody-music’ Boots ad (bland and forgettable)
So what are your big brands during this festive season? According to some very funny people at quietroom , Santa is definitely one to watch ..
